What a great subject for an article. I might write it soon. Meanwhile I am intrigued and researching. From tribal marks through nature’s creature’s displays to contemporary ‘bling’. Is it possible to reconcile, ‘bing, bling’, philosophy with it being a current culture or is ‘bling’ now an anachronism? What cultural meaning has BLING got now? How is ‘Bling’ contemporaneously regarded? Tribal marks anyway. Why? Anthropologically, I would deeply love to know?
